The National Register of Historic Places is the official list of the Nation's historic places worthy of preservation. Authorized by the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, the National Park Service's National Register of Historic Places is part of a national program to coordinate and support public and private efforts to identify, evaluate, and protect America's historic and archeological resources.

The Community House and Theatre is exceptionally significant in social history for the enormous role it played in shaping what gradually evolved into "America's First Gay and Lesbian Town". This integration of homosexual residents into daily life and events at its community house afforded Cherry Grove a singular status; it became one of the first and, for many years, the only gay and lesbian influenced community in the United States. Wassillie Trefon Dena'ina Fish Cache, Lake and Peninsula Borough, Alasaka
The Wassillie Trefon Fish Cache is the last best example of the traditional Dena' ina Athabascan fish cache in the Lake Clark-Iliamna area. Indeed, it is very likely to be the best example of a southwestern Alaska Native log cache extant in the entire Bristol Bay region. July 19th GIS webinar recording: Using GIS for Latitude & Longitude Coordinates for NR
This webinar covered the use of on-line mapping programs to determine latitude and longitude coordinates in lieu of UTM references for National Register nominations. The webinar will provide step-by-step guidance on the use of Google Earth, BING Maps, ArcGIS Explorer, and a true ArcGIS application.
