National Historic Landmarks Program

The National Historic Landmarks program will periodically offer webinars on specific topics related to the NHL process. Anyone is welcome to attend.

REGISTRATION PROCESS:

To register for upcoming webinars please visit https://doilearn.webex.com, click the UPCOMING tab or the MONTHLY tab to locate the webinar you are interested in attending, and then click the Register link located to the right of the desired webinar title. Be certain to search for the course in the Upcoming or Month tabs under the date of the respective webinar session you are interested in attending.

You will receive an automated e-mail from Webex confirming your registration and several reminder e-mails prior to the session.

The National Historic Landmarks Program maintains a list of consultants who have taken a recommended series of webinars. To be placed on this list consultants must have taken the following:

Writing Section 8 (Criterion 1 and 2; or Criterion 4, or Criterion 6)

Writing Section 7

Nuts and Bolts

National Register or National Historic Landmark?: Determining National Significance

Finding the Right Person to Write Your NHL Nomination

Consultants must have also completed at least one of the following webinars:
Understanding Cultural Landscapes
Preparing for the Landmarks Committee Meeting
Writing Section 8 (2 sessions)

This webinar assists preparers in writing Section 8 (Statement of Significance) for NHL nominations using Criterion 6. This webinar is available for viewing online. To participate in this session you must have watched the previously recorded webinar session online. This webinar will function as a Q & A session only.

This webinar assists preparers in writing Section 8 (Statement of Significance) for NHL nominations using
Criterion 4.

July 10: National Register or National Historic Landmarks?, 2-4 (EST)
This webinar assists preparers in learning the differences between the programs and determining which listing is most appropriate for their property.

July 23: Nuts & Bolts of a National Historic Landmark Nomination, 2-4 (EST)
This webinar assists preparers in gathering information for the first stage notice, provides detailed guidance on how to properly fill out an NHL form, and addresses mistakes frequently made by NHL nomination preparers.

August 6: Writing Section 7 and Evaluating Integrity for Criteria 1, 2, 4 and 5, 2-4 PM (EST)
This webinar assists preparers in writing Section 7 (Physical Description) for NHL nominations and evaluating the integrity of resources.

August 21: Writing Section 8 for Criteria 1 and 2, 2-4 PM (EST)
This webinar assists preparers in writing Section 8 (Statement of Significance) for NHL nominations using Criteria 1 and 2.
