National Historic Landmarks Program

Little Tokyo Historic District, CA:
This small historic district, also known as Japantown, lies directly southeast of the Los Angeles Civic Center. Little Tokyo served as a haven and foothold for newly arriving Japanese and before World War II was the heart of America's largest Japanese-American community. It remains the historical focal point for Japanese-Americans in Los Angeles.

Beacon Hill Historic District, MA: The Beacon Hill Historic District was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1962 as one of the nation's finest and least-altered early urban environments. In addition, the elegant Federal and Greek Revival properties are significant for their architecture. The resulting combination of architectural setting, intellectual climate and wealth attracted talented writers and artists as well.
