Apollo Mission Control Center, TX: This control center was used to monitor 9 Gemini and all Apollo flights, Apollo-Soyuz, and all recent space shuttle flights. The center exercised full mission control of Apollo 11, from lift-off at the Kennedy Space Center, through the first landing of men on the moon in July 1969, to splashdown in the Pacific. The high degree of integrity of this site allows it to reflect the role of the Johnson Space Center in the U.S. manned space-flight program.
