Fallen Timbers Battlefield, OH: On August 20, 1794, General "Mad Anthony" Wayne's victory here over the Indians at Fallen Timbers asserted American sovereignty in the Old Northwest and made possible the Treaty of Green Ville. The battle and treaty insured a period of peaceful settlement in the Ohio Country long enough for the new nation to consolidate its hold on the Northwest Territory.
