The Lewis & Clark Expedition
Theme Study, undertaken in 1958, looks at and examines the significant
sites and places that represent the western journey of discovery
by explorers Meriwether Lewis and William Clark. The Lewis and
Clark Expedition made significant contributions in the realms
of geography, botany, wildlife, and geology, among others. A sub-theme
within the larger and broader thematic framework of Advance
of the Frontier, 1763-1830, this study acknowledges the sites
which reflect most aptly the journey that Lewis & Clark undertook
nearly two hundred years ago.
