Secretary Jewell Has Appointed Two To The NAGPRA Review Committee

As one of her first acts as Secretary of the Interior, Secretary Sally Jewell reappointed Dr. Sonya Atalay to the museum and science nominee position for a two year term, and Attorney Steve Titla, San Carlos Apache religious leader to the tribal religious leader position for an initial four year term.

We congratulate the new members of the NAGPRA Review Committee on their appointment, and express our appreciation to all who were nominators, or nominees, for their interest in NAGPRA and the NAGPRA Review Committee.

May 22, 2013: 49th NAGPRA Review Committee Meeting via teleconference.The NAGPRA Review Committee meeting currently scheduled for May 22 and 23, 2013, in Denver, Colorado, will now occur only on May 22, 2013, from 10am to 4pm EST. This meeting will be telephonic and open to the public. Those wishing to present public comment must register for the meeting and advise the DFO of their desire to present, and also submit any written items for distribution to the Review Committee, by March 22. Meeting time is limited and advance notice will allow the Review Committee to accomodate as much public comment as possible. Contact NAGPRA@rap.midco.net by May 17, 2013 to register. The agenda and materials for this meeting will be posted on or before April 22, 2013.
