Reserved Sections of the
NAGPRA Regulations
Responsibility for promulgating NAGPRA regulations, 43 CFR 10, rests with the Secretary of the Interior, who has delegated drafting responsibility to the National Park Service. Within NPS, the National NAGPRA program carries out this responsibility.
Two sections of the NAGPRA regulations remain to be promulgated --
43 CFR 10.7
Disposition of unclaimed human remains, funerary objects, sacred objects, or objects of cultural patrimony
This section of the regulations applies to cultural items found on Federal or tribal land after November 16, 1990. The National NAGPRA program is consulting with the Review Committee, Native American groups, and representatives of museums and the scientific community in developing this regulation, as required by the statute.

This section falls under that part of the NAGPRA regulations dealing with limitations and remedies. No drafting of this regulation has been completed and key issues remain to be identified.
