Department of Defense Installations
This map locates Department of Defense Installations in the contiguous United States. The original data were compiled in 1993 by Geo-Marine, Inc. and appeared in National Map Layers: In support of the Defense Directory of Native American Consultation, prepared for the Waterways Experiment Station, US Army Corps of Engineers, Vicksburg, MS (Contract No. DACW-39-92D-0008). The Geo-Marine data were comprised of separate UTM zones which were subsequently joined by the Center for Advanced Spatial Technologies at a scale of 1:5845860, using a Lambert Azimuthal Equal Area Projection. The county data, which were not included on the original map zones, have been added.

Map numbers correspond to military base locations. The key to military base names is available on the accompanying military base index. The names and locations of Air Force installations have been reviewed by the Air Force Center for Environmental Excellence, and can be accessed in the Native American Consultation Database by name. All other DOD installations and federal administrative units should query by state and county of interest. Although better resolution can be gained by viewing the PDF version, users are urged to use the Native American Consultation Database to search for specific information.
