In April and May of 1998, a 65-acre tract in Otoe County, Nebraska, was examined for evidence of prehistoric and historic archeological remains. The land is owned by the National Park Service and is the location for a proposed Lewis and Clark Trail Center near Nebraska City. No new archeological sites were recorded as a result of the examination, but two previously recorded sites, 25OT45 and 25OT46, were revisited. Six excavation units, covering a total of 14 sq m of surface area, were excavated at 25OT46 in the area proposed for the Center's visitor contact station. No intact subsurface archeological deposits were found, and the site was judged ineligible for the National Register of Historic Places. Monitoring of ground-disturbing activities during construction work is recommended.
