103. Monitoring Foundation Construction at The Peaceful Valley Ranch Site (32bi67) and Site Condition Assessments at Theodore Roosevelt National Park (Thro), Billings County, North Dakota.

This report describes the goals, fieldwork methodology, and results of archeological fieldwork that took place September 16-27, 2007 at Theodore Roosevelt National Park. This work focused on two tasks. The first was to monitor excavations associated with foundation replacement at the Peaceful Valley Ranch House (32BI67). Among the findings of this work were discovery of a hand-dug well in the basement, evidence for a late-19th-to-early-20th centuries fire in the log kitchen addition, a surprisingly complex stratigraphic history for the site, and evidence for a former scoria roof and possible log walkway. In conjunction with this, and as time allowed, the author revisited sites in various areas of the park to assess their conditions. Twenty sites were visited with all assessed as in good condition.
