2003:
Hopeton Earthworks investigations at
Hopewell
Culture
The Midwest Archeological Center
continues its investigations of earthwork construction, function
and timing at Hopewell Culture
National Historical Park this summer with the help of University
of Nebraska-Lincoln field school students and graduate interns.
Efforts this season include topographic mapping, recording information
evident in trenches cut across earthwork walls, and testing of anomalies
identified during magnetic survey. For details and results of investigations
at Hopewell Culture through the 2002 field season, see The
Hopeton Earthworks and Hopewell Culture.
The images below highlight UN-L
students and NPS staff during the first two weeks of this field
season (June 9-20). Check back soon for more photos.
