Sitka National Historical Park 2005
The
Center conducted geophysical, metal detection,
and shovel test investigations at Sitka National Historical
Park in Sitka, Alaska. The geophysical investigations
were conducted at four locations in the part associated with the 1804
Tlingit
and Russian battle and Kiks.ádi fort, Russian cabin locations
from the 1830-1850s, and the 20th century location of a reconstructed
Russian
blockhouse. Techniques included the use of a fluxgate gradiometer, a
resistance meter with twin probe array, and ground penetrating radar.
