Santa Fe National Historic Trail 2005

The Center conducted geophysical investigations at three Santa Fe National Historic Trail locations in the greater Kansas City, Missouri area. Magnetic gradient, resistance, conductivity, and ground penetrating radar surveys were conducted at three locations: Minor Park, Hickman Mills High School, and Schumacher Park. Beginning with know ruts at Minor Park, the investigations at Hickman Mills High School and Schumacher Park were conducted in order to identify any remnants of the trail in these two locations. Volunteers from the local trail association and county archeological and historical societies participated in the investigations.
