Harry S. Truman National Historic Site 2005
The
Center conducted geophysical and archeological
investigations at the Noland House in advance of a
proposed foundation
and basement project at the Noland
lot across the street from the Harry S Truman home at the Harry S Truman
National Historic Site in Independence, Missouri. The compliance related
geophysical investigations included a magnetic gradient, resistance,
conductivity, and ground penetrating radar surveys.
Center personnel also conducted
shovel testing on the outside of the building and
in the crawl space beneath the
building. A limited number of 1x1 m test units were also excavated
in the Noland House lot. In addition to the archeological
and geophysical investigations
at the Noland House, geophysical investigations were also conducted
in the yards at the Truman Home, the George Wallace
house,
and the Frank Wallace
house. The Frank Wallace house was also going to be raised for the
installation
of a new foundation. Magnetic gradient, conductivity, ground penetrating
radar, and resistance surveys were conducted in the yards surrounding
the three adjacent houses.
