Hopewell Culture 2005

The annual National Park Service archeological prospection workshop was held at Hopewell Culture National Historical Park near Chillicothe, Ohio this past May. Forty-six participants attended the workshop including archeologists from England and Canada. Four members of the Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head (Aquinnah) also attended the workshop.

Instruction was divided between lectures during the mornings and on-hands use of the equipment in the afternoons. Afternoon sessions were held at the Hopeton Earthworks, the Hopewell Mound Group, and the Seip Earthworks. Equipment fair was held on Friday with representative from several geophysical instrument manufacturers and software developers present, including representatives from Canada, England, and The Netherlands.
