HABS/HAER Collection at the Library of Congress The following drawing are from the "Southeast Light [Block Island] Recording Project" undertaken by the Historic American Engineering Record, National Park Service, 1988.
An article from Smithsonian Magazine, August 1999, entitled "Science Makes a Better Lighthouse Lens" provides a brief history of the Fresnel lens and the story of the lens displayed in the Hall of American Maritime Enterprise at the National Museum of American History. The lens served at the Bolivar Lighthouse overlooking Galveston, Texas until 1933. |
