Supply the Soldiers in the Field
MISSION #3 - THE OPENING ASSAULT ON PETERSBURG

6. Now that you have control of the rivers at City Point and the
City Point Railroad line, how would you get men down to Petersburg for the opening assault on June 15, 1864?
Clue: Think about supply systems from City Point
Congratulations! You have succeeded in capturing one mile of the
trench system around Petersburg (red line of the Confederate soldiers) during your initial assault. Follow
the new Union line in blue around Petersburg.
7. What two railroad lines were under the control of your army after
the first three days of fighting here at Petersburg?
After three days of fighting, the Union Army now had control of the City
Point railroad line, now called the Military railroad and the Norfolk and Petersburg line. However, you do not have control
of Petersburg. Your plan had been to capture Petersburg quickly and then move on to Richmond, but you have not taken Petersburg.
What now?
MISSION #4 - WHAT DO YOU FOCUS ON CAPTURING WHEN YOU DID NOT TAKE PETERSBURG?
