Alaska's Site Summit: Cold War Defense and its Legacy in the North
relates to the following Social Studies Standards:

 

Theme III: People, Places, and Environments

  • Standard H - The student examines, interprets, and analyzes physical and cultural patterns and their interactions, such as land uses, settlement patterns, cultural transmission of customs and ideas, and ecosystem changes.

Theme VI: Power, Authority, and Governance

  • Standard F - The student explains conditions, actions, and motivations that contribute to conflict and cooperation within and among nations.
  • Standard G - The student describes and analyzes the role of technology in communications, transportation, information-processing, weapons development, and other areas as it contributes to or helps resolve conflicts.

Theme IX: Global Connections
